Summary
While Inspector Thomas Lynley and Helen Clyde honeymoon in sunny Mexico, the body of a young Asian man is found on the beach in Essex, igniting local demonstrations about police racism, and prompting Lynley's early return. By concidence, Havers' old police schoolmate Emily Barlow is the investigating officer. But after joining the case, Havers soon learns Emily's personal beliefs cloud her professionalism.
