Paine; papers, 1846-1863, of his son, Charles Nelson Paine, including genealogical materials, short biographies, Civil War letters written while Captain of Company B, 21st Wisconsin Volunteers, and a regimental history; similar papers, 1846-1865, of a second son, Nathan Paine, Captain of Company G, 1st Wisconsin Cavalry; and papers, 1848-1865, of Charles Robert Nevitt, publisher of the Daily Northwestern (Oshkosh), and Captain of Co. E, 5th Wisconsin Infantry, whose son Charles married Georgiana, a daughter of Charles N.
